Description: Working as part of the Production team on our popular entertainment programme, this role will be responsible for VT inserts within the show. Reporting to the Series Producer, this role will be responsible for delivering VT packages on time, to budget and to the highest standard. Additionally you will also be responsible for producing and directing 30 and/or 60 minute special programmes originating from show when required. Key responsibilities of this role will include: • Self Shooting VT packages to a very high standard using a variety of DV cameras. • Directing PSC crews and presenters on location. • Work closely with Presenters where appropriate, ensuring they are properly briefed and involving them in the editorial process, including script VT's. • To edit packages and programmes to an extremely high standard, including the ability to run more than one edit suite simultaneously. • Produce, direct and edit produce 30 and 60 minute spin off programmes when required. • Creatively define the mood and personality of a VT, by crafting stories that will resonate with a wider audience. • Visually drive the VT's both in terms of style and structure, encouraging innovation whilst working within the programmes editorial objectives. • Work closely with the Production Manager, to ensure every aspect of the production is carefully planned so that filming and editing schedules ensure maximum productivity and VT items come in on budget. • Identify and select stories for VT inserts in a way which demonstrates strong editorial judgment. • To bring a 'network feel' to show's VT content. • Responsibility for leading, motivating and training Assistant Producers and Researchers, ensuring they have clear and consistent objectives consistent with the programmes editorial objectives. The following skills and abilities are essential for success in this role: • Demonstrable experience of self shooting with a range of DV cameras is essential coupled with a thorough technical and editorial understanding of lighting and sound issues. • Proven track record of working as a Producer/Director on popular and primetime shows is essential. • Proven related experience of producing, directing and editing 30 and 60 minute programmes for network broadcast is essential. • Experience of writing commentary, supervising voice over sessions and dubs and running more than one edit simultaneously. • In depth knowledge of television production processes and a proven track record of producing creative programming to a network standard. • Demonstrable experience of generating creative ideas and devising new and innovative approaches to programme making. • Demonstrable experience of programme making across a wide variety of subject areas. • Demonstrable working knowledge and understanding of the Ofcom Broadcasting Code, and all matters of compliance and legal issues related to filming. • Thorough knowledge and understanding of production hazards and Health & Safety regulations and legal issues relating to investigative journalism. • Excellent scripting and narrative skills. • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to establish strong working relationships with a broad range of internal and external customers.
